Las Cruces Tex Mex Takes Shape in Metairie
GOAT is wrapping up an exciting, brand-new dining and entertainment project just off the busy Airline Highway corridor outside of New Orleans. Las Cruces Tex-Mex, led by the team behind Central City BBQ, is set to open later this month after the finishing touches are put on the ground-up construction and design process.
In response to a challenging, post-industrial, triangular site that had previously remained vacant for decades, GOAT developed a massing strategy that maximizes and prioritizes outdoor space for drinking, dining, and play.
In addition to GOAT, the project team included Schrenk Endom & Flanagan LLC for the Civil and Structural Engineering and Synergy Consulting Engineers for the MEP Engineering.
The site utilizes a network of swales and large expanses of permeable surface to hold storm water and reduce the runoff burden on the Old Metairie neighborhood. Native planting will augment the architecture and soften the edges of the post-industrial site, while the back property line is defined by a series of stacked cargo containers, linking it to the railway that runs parallel to it.
Inside Las Cruces Tex Mex was designed with a simple and industrial palette and is divided with two primary functions in mind—dining and events—with the kitchen located at the hinge point between the two.
Stay tuned for more updates and the final project photos!
