Meet the Team: Design Intern Emily Brandt
Emily Brandt is a rising 4th year student at Tulane School of Architecture who recently joined the GOAT team as a Design Intern for the summer. Emily’s art background inspired her to transition into a design education due to her desire to make and create. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture degree.
Outside of her passion for architecture, Emily enjoys drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors. Here’s how she answered our Meet the Team questions:
Who is your favorite architect and/or designer?
Thomas Phifer and Partners is a firm I often look at due to their elegant and bold architecture and use of material expression.
What would be your dream project?
My dream project would be designing a contemporary library or an affordable housing complex.
What design trend do you hope makes a comeback?
Some form of a conversation pit and bay windows.
What topic could you give an hour-long presentation on with no preparation?
The importance of sleep!
What is your favorite local hangout?
Creole Creamery because you can get the sampler order to try multiple flavors in one sitting.
If someone were visiting the city for the first time, what neighborhood would you take them to first and why?
I would first take them to see the live oaks in New Orleans City Park and then the French Quarter to look at the architecture and to eat a muffuletta.
What’s your favorite hobby right now? What hobby have you always wanted to take up?
Glassblowing is my favorite hobby that I have attempted and also what I would like to pursue further! I have also always wanted to try screen printing.
