NOLA COOL
LOCATION: Vieux Carre, New Orleans, Louisiana
PROGRAM: Wine Bar and Curio Shop
CLIENT(S): Confidential
STATUS: Design
PROJECT TEAM: GOAT (Architecture and Interiors)
NOLA COOL is a contemporary curio shop combined with an upscale wine bar, creating a one-of-a-kind shopping and dining experience in the Vieux Carre. Just off iconic Jackson Square in the Pontalba Building, GOAT was commissioned to re-imagine the space with a historically complimentary, yet modern, aesthetic. The resulting design proposal plays off of the playful juxtaposition of the opposing programs, blending the retail and dining components without a clear distinction between the two, allowing the store’s retail products to act as the restaurant’s décor, or vice versa.
GOAT team: Joanna Tanasescu, Paula Bechara, Colin VanWingen, Peter Spera III
GOAT imagined NOLA COOL as the French Quarter drawing room of an eclectic collector, a place for entertaining guests, filled with conversation pieces, eye candy in every corner, and overflowing with allusions to the building’s storied past.
